photo of Horace Watson, M.D.Dr. Horace Watson received his BS from the University of Alabama in 1953 and went on to get his MD from the University of Alabama Medical College in 1957. He gained extensive experience in general orthopaedics and orthopaedic rehabilitation in the U.S. Army medical corps from 1957 to 1967. After completing his military tour of duty as a Lt. Colonel, he served as a private practitioner (operative and non-operative) in Birmingham Alabama from 1967-1986. At this time he joined the Vanderbilt team, and from 1987 to 1993 served as the medical director of the 28 bed orthopaedics and neurology rehabilitation center. From 1993 to 1996 he was the medical director of the Orthopaedic Rehabilitation unit at Vanderbilt Stallworth Rehabilitation Hospital and also the medical director for Vanderbilt Hospital Rehabilitation Services from 1987 to 1998. During his years at Vanderbilt, Dr. Watson also served as Chief of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service at the Nashville Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

To our delight, Dr. Watson has rejoined the Vanderbilt team as of January 2, 2002. He will be available to evaluate and treat patients in the out patient orthopaedic clinic at Vanderbilt. In addition to his interest in seeing patients with all types of orthopaedic problems, Dr. Watson will be available to provide orthopaedic management for diabetic foot patients, adult patients with cerebral palsy and other neuro-muscular diseases and patients who need consideration for prostheses, orthoses, and mobility aids.
