Charles Cox III, MD is the Sports Medicine/Shoulder Surgery fellow. Dr. Cox earned a Bachelor of Engineering from Vanderbilt University in 1998 and a MD degree in 2002 from University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis, TN. He completed a residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA in 2007. Nine months of his residency was spent with Vanderbilt Orthopaedics after Hurricane Katrina. He recently became engaged to Joy Duong, an OB/GYN physician with Baptist Hospital in Nashville. He enjoys running, waterskiing and basketball.
Alex Diamond, DO

Dr. Diamond received his DO degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed a pediatric residency at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. Dr. Diamond recently became engaged to Anne Marie Chicorelli, an orthopaedic resident in Philadelphia. His interests include sports, photography, hiking and music.
Kevin Kahn, M.D.

Dr. Kahn received his undergraduate education at Princeton University. He is a graduate of Emory University School of Medicine. He performed his general surgery internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at Oregon Health SciencesUniversity. He also completed an A.O. Orthopaedic Trauma Fellowship at University Hospital in Zurich, Switzerland. After serving five years in the U.S. Navy as head of the Musculoskeletal Department at Naval Hospital Sigonella in Sicily, Italy, he has decided to pursue a career in Orthopaedic Trauma. His special interests include pelvic and acetabular trauma. Outside of the office, he enjoys traveling, hiking, camping, skiing, scuba diving, and weight training.
John Mowbray, MD

Dr. Mowbray is joining us from Mt. Carmel University in Columbus, Ohio, where he completed his residency , He completed his medical school at Louisville School of Medicine, and his undergraduate at Vanderbilt University.
Kurtis Staples, MD

Dr. Staples received his undergraduate education at Brigham Young University. He is a graduate of Medical College of Wisconsin. He performed his general surgery internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at University of Michigan Hospitals. In addition to Orthopaedic Trauma, he has a special interest in periarticular fractures, as well as pelvic and acetabular fractures. He is married to Stacey and they have four daughters, Madeleine, Lauren, Elizabeth, and Grace. His outside interests include church, basketball, football, airplanes and aviation.
Kristina Wilson, MD

Vanderbilt Sports Medicine and the Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship Program are pleased to announce Kristina Wilson, MD as our 2008-09 clinical fellow. Dr. Wilson is a 2005 graduate of University of Nevada School of Medicine in Reno, NV. She will complete a pediatric residency at Phoenix Children’s Hospital/Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ in June. Dr. Wilson is married to a family practice physician who will be joining her in Nashville. She enjoys athletics, especially swimming and running, music, piano and clarinet.
Joseph DeAngelis, MD

Dr. DeAngelis is a 2003 graduate of University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, MA. He will complete a residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at University of Connecticut in Farmington, CT in June. He enjoys running, sculpting and snowboarding.
